What is included in the dementia care training?
Choose from in-person workshops across Kentucky or online courses that transform your approach to dementia care. Learn experiential techniques that help you understand unmet needs behind behaviors, improving quality of life for residents and job satisfaction for employee care partners.
How much does it cost?
For individuals actively working in the list of approved Kentucky long-term care communities, there is NO COST to participate in this transformational conference. The Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS) is fully-funding the cost of this training for CMS certified nursing facility (CNF) staff in the state.
What is the time commitment?
Choose the option that works best for your schedule and location. We offer 2-day in-person workshops across Kentucky and convenient online weekly sessions. All courses are scheduled to allow flexibility for your team.
How many people from my community can participate?
We recommend that each community send 3-4 team members. Enroll as many team members as possible to create consistent, person-directed dementia care approaches throughout your organization. If you plan to enroll more than 5 people, please contact Meredith Martin at mmartin@edenalt.org to ensure that space will allow. There are no limits to how many people can enroll from your community in the online training scheduled for February 2026 and May 2026. Enroll now as we will add additional online dates as the classes fill up.
Do you offer continuing education units (CEUs)?
Yes! We offer continuing education for multiple professional credentials. Our training is approved by the National Association of Long-Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB), National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners (NCCDP) and this course is recognized by SHRM to offer PDCs for SHRM-CP® or SHRM-SCP® recertification activities. The in-person course is approved for 13.25 CEUs and the online course is approved for 14 CEUs to support your professional development requirements.
What is the learning experience like?
Our training combines engaging multimedia presentations, hands-on activities, and experiential learning that helps you understand the perspective of those living with dementia. Sessions are designed to be interactive and practical, with tools you can immediately apply in your care setting. You'll receive comprehensive resources to reinforce your learning after the training.
How do we implement what we've learned?
Make the learning count by turning education into action. With our approach, you'll learn practical techniques for recognizing unmet needs, improving communication, and creating true home environments for those living with dementia. The Eden Alternative provides follow-up support to help you integrate these practices into your daily care routines.
